Zeno's Paradox
While critical thinking may not make up for a lack of knowledge, it is essential for gaining knowledge.

Critical Thinking, Science, Education:

EQUAL TIME ALL THE TIME FOR EVERYONE - (Minster Michael Shermer)
Genesis 1:1-3 is only a theory, and as such cannot be treated as fact and is really nothing more than an educated guess. It is only fair that we remember that there are other theories of the creation that deserve equal time. For example:...

Some Zuni Indians, Cook Islanders, and Tahitians have a theory that the world was created by the interaction (read "sex") of primordial parents.

Some Japanese, Samoan, Persian, Chinese, and Hindu cultures have a theory that the world was generated from an egg.

Some Mayan and Egyptian cultures have a theory that the world was created by the spoken edict (command) of a god. Oh, come to think of it, the Hebrews have this same theory.

Some Burmese and Icelandic cultures have a theory that the world was created out of the sea.
This is obviously a response by Shermer to two school boards' responses to pressures to change their curriculum to include "intelligent design":

First, the Cobb Count School Board which made a statement on how they have changed their science curriculum to "acknowledge that there are differences of opinion about the origin of life" after previously allowing stickers to be placed in science books stating that "evolution is a scientific theory, not a fact."

Second, the Ohio State Board of Education that may approve similar guidelines for inclusion in their curriculum.

Human Factors:

VoiceUI.Info - (Sam Horodezky)
Voice recognition technology holds enormous potential: who doesn't like the idea of effortlessly talking to his or her computer? However, as with any technology, the limitations which constrain the User Interface are not well understood. In the case of voice recognition, the constraints are very significant.
A new resource on speech user interfaces.
